A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

When I heard Doris Day had died I went to YouTube to listen to Move Over Darling which is my favourite song of hers. She also did a great version of Winter Wonderland which she sang as a slow ballad.
ReplyDeleteI've got her Christmas album (CD), plus one or two other of her albums, CJ. Love Me Or Leave Me is a great song.
ReplyDeleteWhile I do not own any of her albums she was a great singer and had personality. Of the old school crooners who were around during ww2, I can only distinguish a few. Judy Garland, Doris Day and on a good day Jo Stafford. Alas there were many female singers of the time who while good, I find hard to separate from each other .
ReplyDeleteSome of my favourite female singers are: Peggy Lee, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Sarah Vaughn, k.d. lang, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Lena Horne, Nina Simone, and quite a few others whose names escape me for the moment.
