She had a hard act to follow re Mrs peel but did a damn good job.
ReplyDeleteEspecially as the show was becoming a bit more ludicrous by the time she joined, LH. I fancied Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, and Linda Thorson, But Joanna Lumley's Purdey never did it for me.

Yeah, it never really grabbed me, LH. I wasn't keen on Joanna Lumley's plummy voice, Gareth Hunt was only there to provide the action because Patrick MacNee was getting on a bit, and he was only there just so they could include the word 'Avengers' in the title. Steed worked better with a female partner, having another male partner changed the dynamic.
