'NEW' SUPERMAN COVER GALLERY - PART FIVE...

Images copyright DC COMICS

What a day!  I'm knackered!  "Hooray," you cry, "he'll be too tired to bore us with all that dreary schecht he writes!"  You're right, so without any further ado, here are another six covers of SUPERMAN's new mag from the late '80s, launched in the wake of CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS.  Check out #s 27 & 28 - brilliant, aren't they?

  1. The Superman In Space cover looks rather like that Steranko cover with Nick Fury in space, doesn't it ?

  2. It does, CJ. That's why it says 'After Steranko' on the left-hand side of the cover.

  3. So it does - I didn't notice that, Kid :)

  4. #27 reminds me of an old Avengers cover with Goliath on and #29 is very similar to an early 60's Action Comics cover. Will try and find links.

  7. I see the similarity between the two Superman covers, JP, but not the Avengers one. Incidentally, all the Fantastic covers are on my blog, so that should save you a hunt in the future.

    1. I knew that, Kid, but I was on GCD, looking through The Avengers and couldn't find one with Goliath punching at that angle, so I looked at the Fantastics and that's the nearest I could find, so perhaps it's a splash page it reminds me of? ( Anybody?)

  8. Maybe it's just the similarity of the colours of Guardian's costume to Giant Man/Goliath's that seems familiar, JP? I'll have a look through my Avengers Omnibus when I get a chance, and check 'though.
