And if that doesn't bring a smile to your face, you must be dead.

  1. Ahh, Calvin...

I miss my cat - half a year ago I lost my fuzzy flatmate. Axolotls are fine but you can't hug them when you're feeling down.

  4. I love Calvin and Hobbes! Bill Watterson's amazing strip was funny, poignant, surreal, truthful - an absolute classic!

  6. I can't recommend any of the "Calvin and Hobbes" collections enough a truly wonderful book in all the ways that "cerebus 600" mentioned - I remember folk on a blog (perhaps here) asking did you actually ever laugh at a comicstrip you read and most said "no" stating they "grinned" or "smiled" etc , well "Calvin and Hobbes" will make you laugh (and sigh) Kid.

  8. Might get another cat eventually - but Gus was by my side for just under fourteen years, it'll take a while before I'm "ready" again...

As for Calvin & Hobbes, every page is a joy. Possibly the only comic that's ever made me cry. I've got five collections of them, all of which are from charity shops. Keep an eye out!

  9. Don't think I'll ever get another dog again, THB - getting too old for it.

There's loads of charity shops in my town centre shops - I should visit them more often, 'cos who knows what collectors' items I've missed.

  10. Sorry to hear about your cat THB. I'm the same and I probably wont get another dog(my wee dog passed away over 27 years ago as well) its painful enough losing family members and friends let alone the pet (who for me was a family member also) plus as I'm an old git if I got a puppy now it would probably outlive me lol!

I ve picked up a few good books in EK Kid I saw a Calvin and Hobbes collection for £1 in Byres Road . Glasgow a few weeks ago so def worth keeping an eye out.
