A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

I much prefer the modern Guardians of the Galaxy actually. Are you getting all Christmassy yet, Kid ? I'm now searching for all my favourite '70s Christmas specials on YouTube - Steptoe & Son, the Likely Lads, the Good Life, Rising Damp etc. "Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la..." :D
ReplyDeleteNah, I've not even sent a card or finished putting the decorations up. I'm way, way behind this year. Dealing with diddies making personal attacks on me on Facebook has diverted my attention.
ReplyDeleteThis collects one of my all-time top ten favortie comic books, the debut of the Guardians in Marvel Super-Heroes by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan. I adored this story when it first appeared but had to wait half a decade to see finally what became of Vance Astro, Martinex, Charlie-27 and Yondu. The stories which followed on had more supeheroics and less sci-fi but they were still fun to read. The new Guardians are fun too, one of the best comic book movies of all time.
ReplyDeleteRip Off
I enjoyed the Guardians movie, Rip, but haven't read any comics featuring the new group. I've got the ish of Marvel Superheroes (#18), and once had the Marvel Presents comics the Guardians reappeared in back in the '70s, but can't remember too much about them. Now I've got the book, I'll re-read those tales and refresh my memory of them.
ReplyDeleteWell that's it settled this is my Xmas book (from me to err me) The Marvel Presents; Guardians series was one of my favourites at the time and every issue was on the racks at my local newsagent back in the day sadly I only have one issue left in my collection. I loved the Guardians movie but much prefer this comic to the new comic (which isn't too bad). So many good books collections coming out.
ReplyDeleteYou're telling me, McS. I'll have to start saving for the Ditko Dr. Strange Omnibus volume coming out in the New Year. (March, I think, but not sure.) Don't forget to buy the Howard The Duck book, too. It's a cracker.
ReplyDeleteOh, Kid - stop worrying what other people think. Put up those decorations, send those cards, play your Jim Reeves Xmas CD and watch the 1973 Steptoe & Son Christmas special on YouTube - that'll cheer you up :D
ReplyDeleteAh, but those people need to be put in their place, CJ. Especially as they don't seem to know where it is. I'll help them find it. Cards now written, ready to send.
