THUNDERBIRD 4 'RELIANT'...

A few years ago, this car was on sale on eBay, and I'm sure whoever now owns it won't mind me showing such an inspired idea.  Isn't it great?  If only it could travel underwater, it'd be absolutely perfect.  Del Boy, eat your heart out.

Actually, if it was a ROBIN RELIANT, it would have only three wheels, not four - I was fooled (easily done with me) by the colour.  Wonder what type of car it is?  I have seen a Reliant made up like this though.

  1. Charlie Dimmock drives a Skoda pick-up that looks almost like this. Well, it's the same vivid colour.

  2. Keen gardener, Martin, or just keen Charlie Dimmock fan? I would've though a lot of plants have withered in the shade when she's around.

  3. If it was a Robin Reliant I would buy it and drive it to comic conventions

  4. Yeah, there's a point, Phil. If it was a Robin Reliant, it would have only 3 wheels. The colour fooled me, so I'd better 'fess up.

  5. Surprisingly there are a few similar “Thunderbird 4” cars on the web including this “You Tube” link to a Reliant Robin version – personally I wouldn’t be that keen on driving a bright yellow car let alone one that looked like this. The one you show here looks like a Rover car to me (from the brief view of the badge)

  6. Looks great 'though, eh, McS? After my dad got rid of his Nobel 200, he had several Reliant Robins - most of them yellow, one blue. That's like the old Jasper Carrot joke (which I've told before) about bank robbers using a Reliant Robin as their getaway car. A member of the public was able to get the chassis number and the police tracked them to their hideout.

  7. It's a Renault 5 van, you can tell by the panels and the wheel trim. Wouldn't be great to have one those, working as a plumber? "It's in case of extreme flooding madam".

  8. It must look great sitting out in the driveway, DSE. Imagine having a lock-up at the side of the house in the shape of a TB2 pod - wouldn't that be super?

  9. What a brilliant merchandising idea, of course you'd hafta plant palm trees either side of the drive.

  11. Hi’ Guys,
A friend and myself built the “Renault Extra Thunderbird 4” to enter the 2010 Czech Wrecks Banger Rally. We drove her from Calais through Interlaken, Bormio, Saltzburg and on to Prague raising money for "Help For Heroes" Charity.
We finished 2nd overall and won the "Best Theme" award.
We had a great time with the car, had lots of laughs and many people photographed us on the various Autobahns and Autostradas.
We drove her home and sold her on E-Bay to a chap who was going to use her to entertain Children.
The following year we converted a Skoda Favorit Estate into a "Parrot-Medics" car and won the event !
We are currently working on another car with a Gerry Anderson theme, but she is still under wraps. I will post here when finished...........
    Cheers,
