A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Danny Kaye's daughter said that people would come up to him in restaurants and recite the "flagon with the dragon has the pellet with the poison" routine.
ReplyDeleteThere was a similar scene in Bob Hope's Never Say Die (1939), with a set of dueling pistols. "The cross is on the handle of the pistol with the bullet, the nick is on the handle of the pistol with the blank."
Bob also did a similar scene in one of his Paleface movies, TC. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThis routine was unashamedly " nicked" , to good effect , in 'Allo, 'Allo! with the gateau in the chateau/ the pill in the till/ the candle with the 'andle & the drug in the jug!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see that, JP. I'll have to check if it's on YouTube.
