WILL THE REAL STEADFAST McSTAUNCH PLEASE STAND UP...

As related in the now departed DENIS GIFFORD's letter below, STEADFAST McSTAUNCH was originally a dog in the first incarnation of KNOCK-OUT comic back in 1949/'50.  Above is the strip from the cover-dated November 29th, 1969 issue of WHIZZER & CHIPS (#7), wherein Denis reverted the then-current version of ol' Steady back to his original doggie-self.  I don't have the next issue, but relax - Steadfast regained his human form and all was right with the world.
