A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Kid, your blog is much missed but it's nice to hear from you again - if your hiatus is due to some kind of medical problems then I can only say get well soon !
ReplyDeleteWell, I for one am very much looking forward to your return, Kid - I'm definitely feeling withdrawal symptoms now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you're in a position to look at other blogs at the moment. I thought of you when I was writing my post a couple of days ago. I finally found my Man from U.N.C.L.E. card (proudly pictured in said post), which I was talking to you about not that long ago.
Ta much, CJ. No medical problems, 'though that might change with the effort I've been expending over the last few weeks. All will be revealed when it's all over.

I check the odd blog when I check my own, Andrew, although that's been difficult recently as my computer has been tucked away while I've been attending to an important matter. I dug it out again to do this 'babe' post, so I'll take a look at your card right now before I pack my computer away again.
Just a quick note to wish you all the best Kid. Hope all is well and you're back blogging and stuff soon.

Thanks, DD - might be able to do a couple of small posts over the weekend, but nothing major.
ReplyDeletesee you soon mate.
ReplyDeleteHi Kid, hope your back regular blogging soon. I thought you might like to know that I purchased Super Spider-Man No.206 (Jan 1977) off e-bay this week, in order to get the Frank Hampson poster in the centre pages. When I originally bought the comic I was only 11 and had no idea who Dan Dare was - remember 2000AD with it's re-launch of DD was still 5 weeks away! Anyway, on the letter page (Spidey's Super Mail) was correspondence supporting the re-publishing of "The Missing Link" originally published in "Fantastic" from a G.I.Robson in East Kilbride! It helped to make up for your lack of recent blogs. Cheers, BigD-EK
ReplyDeleteHopefully won't be too long now, Baab. Cheers.

Big D, that's one I'd forgotten about, so I'll have to track down a copy. What exactly did I say again? (Word for word if it ain't too long - cheers.)
Take as much time as you possibly need. Kid - we'll be here when you return.
ReplyDelete"Dear Bullpen, In a recent letters page, in reply to an enquiry about "The Missing Link/Johnny Future" saga, you said that earlier you had considered reprinting this series but had decided not to at present. I'd just like to say I really enjoyed these stories when they first appeared in "Fantastic", so I'd just like to say you've got my support if you ever decide to publish this strip. I was privileged only to read.a few stories, so I look forward to reading the complete set at some future date. You could even arrange a battle between the Hulk and the Missing Link as a fill-in, because they're similar in appearance and it would provide an interesting story."
ReplyDelete"We're particularly gratified to receive your approbation of the Missing Link/Johnny Future saga because we had a big hand in the production of it (Yep - all those years ago!) Those Marvelites currently showing such fantastic interest in Cap. Britain might like to know that Johnny Future was British-produced (well, apart from the fact that the artist was a Spaniard!) There are no present plans for re-publishing the series in British Marvels......but who knows what the future (and no pun intended!) may hold....."
ReplyDeleteTa much, Karl. I've unexpectedly found myself with a bit of time over the next couple of days, so I'll try and at least post another Babe of the Day.

Thanks for taking the time to do that, Big D - much appreciated. Now I'll have to pay a visit to eBay when I have a spare moment.
Re.your letter to Super S-M, if nobody else ever does it doesn't matter now that you yourself have re-introduced Linky/JF to the masses. It DID need doing by somebody. I was after them for years!
ReplyDeleteJP, I'm puzzled as to why I said I'd only read a few of them in that letter because I'd probably read every episode. I can only imagine that I thought it might act as an impetus for them to reprint the stories if they thought there was an eager audience for them - devious little sh*t that I was.
ReplyDeleteI've now acquired that issue of Super Spider-Man, and it's interesting to note that, right after my letter, there's one from Colin Janes from Sutton in Surrey. As my own letter has a couple of typos (that I wasn't responsible for), I suspect that 'Janes' is meant to be 'Jones' and therefore wonder if it was the very same CJ on this page.
'The very same CJ'.
ReplyDeleteIf that is the case I will be mightily impressed.
But not surprised.
Turns out it wasn't him, Baab. Would've been interesting if it had've been.
