A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

My havourite feature in this comic is The Hoot Squad.
ReplyDeleteKen H. Harrison if I'm not mistaken, Irmantas. Quality always stands out.
ReplyDeleteI like Hoot - a lot. It seems to've been mostly forgotten by DC Thomson (never appearing in the "Beano & Dandy" annuals or even Classics From The Comics), but there's a lot of energy throughout. The Hoot Squad's fantastic, and Dave Mostyn's in it as well!
ReplyDeleteI got the full run of them for a very cheap price in a 2nd-hand-shop late last year, this made me very happy.
Those are some high-quality scans you've got there, by the way!
Taken from my own copy of #1, THB. I only have 1 & 3, having missed #2 for some reason at the time. I might track down #2 to complete the first three issues one day.
ReplyDeleteGot a few doubles, but not the 2nd issue, unfortunately. If you're interested in copies of issues 5, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 or 25, you're welcome to them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, THB, but I'd decided to get only the first 3 when the comic first came out anyway, so it's only #2 I need at the moment. Perhaps when I've filled gaps in other collections I might turn my attention to Hoot! Thanks anyway. I'll buy your Birthday Book for Boys '72 'though, if you've still got it and it's in good nick.
ReplyDeleteAnother comic I used to own gratefully received. But how COULD DC Th. only give the Bad Lads & Col. Blink a mere strip each?!
ReplyDeleteThey were just used as space-fillers, JP, although there may have been some advertising benefit (for The Beezer and The Topper) which DCT intended to exploit, perhaps.
