Page 1 was a rather unspectacular affair (and not even a splash page) so here's page 2 instead, which better fits the description |
A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

I didn't know about these but I loved the Vision and Scarlet Witch. That's one thing I hate about the modern Avengers, Wolverine and Spider-Man don't belong in my opinion. I'd forgotten all about the Whizzer till I saw him here on the cover of #2.
ReplyDeleteShows just how out of touch I am, CJ - I didn't even know they were members.
ReplyDeleteReally? There's a character called The Whizzer? I'm guessing his powers involve super-speed, rather than the watery alternative.
ReplyDeleteThe Whizzer was a super-speed character who first appeared back in th '40s, GB. He got his powers by being bitten by a mongoose - I don't even think it was radioactive. For a while Pietro and Wanda thought he was their father. ('Cos the writer said he was.)
ReplyDeleteDid this mini - series lead to their own title, like Wolvie, and, if so, have you got those as well?
ReplyDeleteI don't think it led to a regular series, but I have vague (and possibly mistaken) notions of a follow-up mini-series, JP. Regardless, I don't have them - if they exist.
ReplyDeleteYou're right , there was another mini series, ( thought I'd seen some different covers! ) I checked GCD and there were 12 issues in '85 and jolly interesting they look too!
ReplyDeleteI was never too keen on the Vision/Scarlet Witch relationship to be honest, JP, so I'm not sure I could generate enough enthusiasm or interest to read 12 issues.
