A cascading cornucopia of cool comics, crazy cartoons, & classic collectables - plus other completely captivating & occasionally controversial contents. With nostalgic notions, sentimental sighings, wistful wonderings, remorseful ruminations, melancholy musings, rueful reflections, poignant ponderings, & yearnings for yesteryear. (And a few profound perplexities, puzzling paradoxes, & a bevy of big, beautiful, bedazzling, buxom Babes to round it all off.)

Not surprised at all that you really enjoyed treasure island - I enjoyed the classics illustrated version - one of the very first American comic books I ever bought - before I discovered DC - then there was no turning back!!
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoyed Treasure Island, you should read Moonfleet (if you haven't already) by J. Meade Falkner.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kid, will check it out. I have a recommendation for you too - the coral island by rm ballantyne - even better than treasure island!
ReplyDeleteRead it years ago, still got it. Funnily enough, I was going to suggest it to you before I decided on Moonfleet. Have you read the sequel, The Gorilla Hunters?
ReplyDeleteNo, not heard of it before ,but I will definately check it out! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteSeven years later, JP - did you ever get around to reading The Gorilla Hunters? I've started on it again, around 46 years after first reading it in '73 or '74. (Though I was given it as a Sunday School prize a few years before that, if I recall correctly.) My original copy may be up in the loft somewhere, but I bought another one to save me having to hunt for it.
ReplyDeleteTell a lie - it was a Junior Church prize for regular attendance and was probably given to me around 1971/'72-ish.
