Me and others like me, that is! We of a certain age who had been regular Silver Age Marvel comic buyers had grown up, got married, had new homes to set up, etc. and simply didn't have the spare cash for comics any more ( or records, for that matter, which ecplains why many early 70s stars found it hard to get a hit in the second half of the decade!)<br />Marvel had seen with POTA that the licenced Sci-Fi films were popular, so they aimed at the next generation that were coming along, gambling on their also trying some traditional Marvel titles, along with their Star Wars. And it looks that they did just that!John Pitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08035300858247327343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-44587936711001377642016-03-15T11:22:28.703+00:002016-03-15T11:22:28.703+00:00On this blog, CJ, you're allowed to believe or...On this blog, CJ, you're allowed to believe or disbelieve whatever you want without someone trying to bully you into changing your mind. However, while it may be possible that some other means of saving Marvel might've popped up in the absence of Star Wars, I think I'll align myself on this occasion with those who were there at the time (and had access to the facts and figures) who say that Star Wars saved Marvel's butt. 'Though f you prefer the luxury of disbelieving something in the face of the pertinent historical accounts, then who are the rest of us to say thee nay? I wasn't a huge fan of the movies anyway, so the comic didn't do a lot for me. However, it's generally acknowledged that the comicbook series 'saved' Marvel.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-81120697178090319232016-03-14T21:03:26.968+00:002016-03-14T21:03:26.968+00:00I agree but someone bought them.
