Another CASE For The MAN From U.N.C.L.E. ...



Some of you may recall me previously mentioning a cardboard Man From U.N.C.L.E. attache case I received one Christmas from an aunt and uncle (npi) back in the late '60s.  Well, I've recently bought a replacement for it and am awaiting its arrival from Japan.  When I was a kid, I owned an Uncle badge, my brother had an Uncle fountain pen, and we both had Uncle ID cards, and it's great to be able to say that, with the purchase of this case, I now own all of them again.  Hooray for me!  Enjoy looking at a trio of the seller's pics until the item actually arrives.  Just can't wait.  Did you have this item in your youth?  Then reminisce to your heart's content.  (Forgot to mention I also have the Corgi Toys 'Thrushbuster', bought around 25/30 years or so ago.)

Update: Amazing!  I ordered the case on the 3rd of this month, it was posted on the 4th, and it arrived today on the 9th.  All the way from Japan in under a week - not bad going at all, eh?

    Kid, can we assume your recently announced intention to stop buying ever more stuff has been abandoned?

    In a previous comment you mentioned that you'd heard of something else occurring on February 17th as well as Shrove Tuesday, Chinese New Year and my 60th birthday. Was it the start of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting? Feb 17th is going to be a very busy day!

      If you recall, CJ, I said 'soon', though I also supposed there'd likely be a few exceptions. Well, this is one of them - and you should see the amount of items I've recently considered buying but decided against doing so. Therefore, it's accurate to say I've certainly subdued my collecting instincts.

      Can't remember what else it was that occurred on the 17th, but I don't think it was Ramadan.

    Was it the solar eclipse on 17 February? Although this is only visible in the Southern hemisphere.

      Unfortunately, I just can't remember, though it could've been. However, if it was, I would've thought your prompt would ring a bell in my memory, but it doesn't, McS. Maybe I'll remember yet. Left a comment on your newest post.

    I never had the Uncle gun set, but I thought they looked really cool when I was six or seven years old. Still do. Fingers crossed your purchase makes it through customs unscathed.

      There was another Uncle attache case which was more robust and contained a wider choice of items (I think). B, but it was the cheaper version I was given. Yeah, fingers crossed, and every other part of my anatomy that's capable of it.

    Nice. Does the telescopic sight have lens or just hollow? I had a gun with a silencer, another one that seems to have evaporated in the mists of time. I also had a small plastic box, shaped like a book, which had a switch and when pressed would fire small plastic pellets. Does the Uncle gun shoot any kind of ammunition?

      The telescopic sight is hollow, M, no lens. I seem to remember the gun firing plastic bullets, but the one in the pic looks more like a cap gun so maybe my memory is off a bit. I'll know for sure once it's here. I've got a Red Box case which is similar to the Uncle one, though the gun is plastic. It's on the blog somewhere.
