Back in 1987, when I was being considered as an interim Assistant Editor for 2000AD, I was interviewed by Gil. He came across as a genuinely nice fella, and subsequently always had a few moments for a chat whenever I saw him in the offices. Later, he was always trying to get work for Massimo Belardinelli and I wrote Moonrunners (with some help from Steve Parkhouse) specifically for Massimo.
