Case in point: Pow! had some really badly re-sized Spider-Man pages that, had I been editor, I'd never have approved them for publication. Some of the 'drawing-up' really ruined Ditko's art, yet I still think of the comic fondly.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-85023913998383830632016-01-18T13:40:29.408+00:002016-01-18T13:40:29.408+00:00On the plus side it wasn’t clipped! I had a full refund from the seller, so I’ll hang on to it until I find a nicer copy...A shame you didn’t like Triffik (I was around 13 when I first started buying it and was always grateful for a new comic to buy!) I can understand why it wasn’t well received though. I remember having to go on a school cross country run and hiding the first issue up my T-shirt and reading it as I walked along the quiet country lane (being at the very back nobody knew any better) Id promptly hide it when I heard a car approaching though and pretend to run as it was probably the teacher ;) Lets just say that I’m ‘nostalgic’ about it shall we? ;)Arfon Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08538971075550919385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-41921965022305089872016-01-18T12:49:23.200+00:002016-01-18T12:49:23.200+00:00I disliked Triffik on so many levels, I don't ...I disliked Triffik on so many levels, I don't know where to begin, AJ. Terrible logo, awful lettering, and just so many levels below what it should've been. The editor had no previous experience in comics and it showed. (You're obviously a kinder person than me.) As for Amazon and eBay, the descriptions of some sellers often baffle me. 'VG' often means 'barely hanging together'.Kidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07224781868125924337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-81947456062397156182016-01-18T10:56:56.534+00:002016-01-18T10:56:56.534+00:00Triffik takes another kicking! I rather liked it...It had a few strips in it that I liked (Lew’s Tough Guy for example and I liked that Monster hospital one too) plus every two weeks I would take the vouchers that they included on the inside cover of each issue to the very same shop and get a free packets of fizzy Chewits! Happy times! TwoHeadedBoy, “soon to come into possession of several more...” How on earth did you track them down? Aren’t highly sought after collectors items?? ;)
As for Amazon neglecting certain details, tell me about it- I have a Monster Fun annual listed as ‘excellent’ when it arrived it was covered in scribbles (my particular favourite being where a kid had crossed out the word ‘balloon’ and replaced it with ‘bum’ funny little tinker...
Arfon Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08538971075550919385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-74164397693024732982016-01-17T21:16:54.612+00:002016-01-17T21:16:54.612+00:00Good man. School Fun on ...Triffik is a complete horror show!

School Fun on the other hand... There's an oxymoron of a title if ever I saw one. Only ever read one issue of it (found in a comics shop in London a few years ago, couldn't resist the Dave Mostyn cover), but am soon to come into possession of several more... Only 33 issues though? Wow. I'll be on the lookout for the annual in any case.TwoHeadedBoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14946450138433182058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3740495193314269367.post-3927881210134540522016-01-16T19:49:42.038+00:002016-01-16T19:49:42.038+00:00I bought the first 12 issues, but only ever browse...I bought the first 12 issues, but only ever browsed through them. The title reflected the content I thought, but I can see why some kids would've been suspicious of it. OK, I was 17 so it wasn't aimed at me but I found it a limp addition to the mighty IPC catalogue. Crispynevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16162688835912122159noreply@blogger.com
