MICHTY ME - IT'S MOWSER...

From the back cover of the 1976 LION Holiday Special, comes the magnificent moggy known as MOWSER.  Despite the age-ravaged condition of this particular page, it'll still provide you with a laugh, not only because of the humorous script, but also because of REG PARLETT's great art, which was always funny to look at.

More Mowser soon, folks.  Don't miss it.

Well, that's interesting. I don't have a lot of Lion, but most of what i do have is straight action/adventure type strips, not cartoony humour. While i concur with your assessment, i wouldn't have expected to find it in Lion. It seems i have a spot of ignorance that needs addressing here.

It wasn't unusual for UK action/adventure comics in the '50s, '60s & '70s to carry a page or two of humorous strips, 3. And Mowser is a gem. There's another couple of his strips elsewhere on the blog, and there'll be more soon.

Reg Parlett. Thanks Kid! Another name to go with some memorable strips.

Yeah, he was absolutely brilliant, WJB. Never drew anything less than a brilliantly funny page in his life.
