I loved all those old British comics, but The Beano had more of my favourite characters than the others. Just seeing Billy The Cat sitting on the top of that lamppost has made my (Christmas) day.

Thanks for all your efforts over the past year, and I look forward to seeing what delights you have in store for us over the coming one.

Merry Christmas!

Surely the best Christmas Beano cover ever? It was always special to see the inside characters appear on the front cover.

Merry Christmas to you Gordon.

Thanks, GB and Chris - hope you both have a super-duper Christmas, and that Santa brought you exactly what you were looking for.

You would think Dennis could have given Walter a free pass! Great cover that evokes such happy memories for those of us who enjoyed Christmas in less frenetic times. Was walking the dogs this morning and saw no kids out riding new bikes or whizzing/falling on roller skates. Does Santa even bother anymore or does he sub contract out to Amazon?

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Another great UK cover.I loved all the old UK X mas comics - It was always exciting when the artists drew snow on the comic title letters (which surprisingly is not on the letters on this issue)as it heralded the run up to Xmas. My personal favourites were the old Odham's Xmas covers I particularly recall the 1967 cover to Smash (issue 100 as well) the title had the obligitory snow on the title but also had a load of characters(think it was the "Swots & the Blots" or "Tiddlers" )running/ being chased accross the banner and falling down the side ( where the staples were)of the cover. The feature strip / art itself just featured a Batman strip with no Xmas connection)but it looked really cool - but the Beano was also the benchmark to Christmas really -McScotty

I'm sure I have those Odhams issues and think I've run some of those covers in past posts, McScotty, and you're absolutely right - they were superb! There was something about the printing process that added to the atmosphere of them, which seems absent from today's comics with superior printing techniques. Strange, eh?

Hope Santa was good to you.

Thanks, Chris B - and have a great Christmas yourself. (Not BY yourself - you know what I mean.)
